ABOUT US

What is the Wellington Private Education Network?

The Wellington Private Education Network (WPEN) consists of three of New Zealand’s leading private schools; Scots College, Samuel Marsden School and Chilton Saint James School. WPEN provides international students and their families with the highest quality of educational experience.

The WPEN schools are well resourced and have modern, state-of-the-art facilities. We have a proven track record of academic excellence, and consistently rank among the best in New Zealand. Between the three schools we offer a range of curriculums – NCEA, IB, Cambridge – providing pathways to top universities in New Zealand and around the world.

Enroling at a school in the WPEN ensures a consistent level of service and support; from small class sizes, individual care and attention and wide range of extra curricular activities. We pride ourselves in providing a superlative private school education.

StudyCare

StudyCare

Our unique first class care and experience programme for international students.

Students studying at a WPEN school are well looked after from the moment they arrive in the country, starting with a meet and greet and transfer assistance on arrival at Auckland Airport for all new international students. Students are met by a WPEN representative when they arrive in Wellington. This dedicated member of staff, will help students with school routines, cultural and day to day needs and with settling into their accommodation.

The StudyCare programme launches with a fun orientation day at the start of the school year for students new to Wellington. This is an exciting day out exploring Wellington, getting to know the city and meet new friends. The day concludes with the StudyCare welcome dinner when students are joined by their host families and boarding staff.

EXPERIENCE NZ CULTURE

Through StudyCare, students from each school come together to enjoy supervised activities, events and outings focused on experiencing New Zealand’s culture through an abundance of activities.

Activities may include kayaking, going to a rugby game, social cooking, movie and bowling nights or going for a hike to experience the beautiful scenery that New Zealand has to offer. Each term students will have the opportunity to travel to some of New Zealand’s famous touristic areas, for example Queenstown or Rotorua.

STudent support

Moving to another country while exciting also involves adjustment to the food, language, people and different ways that local people do things. Some students adjust quickly and others may go through a shakier period before settling.

To help support students as they adjust to life in New Zealand StudyCare offers support courses. Held once a term these days provide students with a safe and open environment alongside a team who will help them understand some of the 'kiwi social norms' they may have questions about.

These days support students’ academic studies by concentrating on study and revision skills, their understanding of the New Zealand qualification system and career pathways for their future after secondary education.

Tertiary pathways

Senior International Students are given opportunities to explore a range of tertiary pathways and are able to come together for exam preparation classes prior to sitting important exams.

Our exclusive Uni-Link partnership with Victoria University of Wellington ensures that senior students can explore a world-ranked leading New Zealand university; this includes campus visits, access to university mentors and course advisers and guest lectures. Students who successfully gain University Entrance (details of requirements will be provided by your New Zealand school) are guaranteed a place at Victoria University. Visits to other universities around New Zealand can also be arranged
